Flandrau Science Center & Planetarium was one of more than 40 planetariums around the world selected to host advance listening experiences for Phoebe Bridgers’ new album, Lost Weekend, giving Tucson audiences an opportunity to hear the album beneath the planetarium dome ahead of its worldwide release.
Presented in partnership with Spotify, the Lost Weekend Planetarium Experience paired the album with one of two original visual experiences created for planetarium domes. At Flandrau, audiences experienced an immersive laser show designed by Laser Fantasy.
Tucson responded quickly, with the first two shows selling out within three hours of tickets going on sale. Additional performances were added in response to demand, ultimately bringing the event to five sold-out shows and more than 500 tickets sold.
The listening experiences were held Aug. 11 and 13 at Flandrau, just days before Lost Weekend was officially released Aug. 14.
The event brought a major new music release to Tucson in a format that combined Flandrau’s immersive planetarium environment with an international listening event. Flandrau thanks the hundreds of guests who joined us for the five sold-out performances.
The events also received local media coverage from the Arizona Daily Star which is liked in the "Read Article" button below.
