Special Experiences - Winter Family Science Workshops
December 28, Thursday - Patterns in Nature
Have you ever wondered why honeybees are black and yellow or why jackrabbits are brown? In the animal world, colors and patterns are important adaptations for survival. In this workshop, you will learn about these adaptations, use your imagination to design an animal adapted for a specific environment, and create a nature notebook to record observations starting in our science exhibits and continuing in the great outdoors after the workshop ends.

December 29, Friday - Egg Drop Challenge
Is your family up to an "egg-cellent" challenge? In this workshop, you will work together as a family to explore the engineering process, then put your skills to the test as you design and build a structure to protect an egg from a 2-story drop!

January 3, Wednesday - Incredible Insects!
Did you know that insects are the most common animals on our planet? Join us to explore the amazing world of insects. You will learn about insect characteristics, their adaptations, and even handle live insects.

January 4, Thursday - Field Trip to the Moon
Join us to learn about our closest celestial neighbor, the Moon! This workshop will explore the moon’s characteristics such as its craters and how it changes in appearance throughout the month. You will make a moon crater, model the phases of the moon, and design a moon journal to record your observations of the moon over the next month.
Please note, this workshop involves OREOs (eating not required).
