Come discover how cool science is in the hot desert at our new summer series! Our first evening is June 24th, titled “Big Mirrors, Big Aspirations"

Each ticket is per person and ticket price includes access to any or all of the following:

6:00 to 10:00PM - Admission to all Science Center Exhibits
6:30PM Planetarium Lecture - "Big Mirrors on the Earth and the Moon" with J. Roger Angel
8:00 to 10:00PM - Telescope viewing outside Flandrau (free)
8:30PM Planetarium Show - "Big Astronomy"
9:15PM Planetarium Live Star Talk - "Tucson Sky & Beyond"

A la carte tickets for exhibits or shows are also available, in person, at the front entrance during the event. Seating is first come, first serve and some shows may sell out. An all inclusive ticket guarantees you a seat to the lecture and all shows.

A fun-filled evening for all ages! Flandrau’s exhibit halls will be open with demonstrations, including its newest exhibit “Undersea Discovery."

Come hear UArizona Regents Professor J. Roger Angel present in the planetarium dome at 6:30pm with “Big Mirrors on the Earth and the Moon”. Angel will tell the story behind the Richard F. Caris Mirror Lab: a unique facility underneath Arizona Stadium that fabricates the largest telescope mirrors in the world. Prof. Angel will preview the largest astronomical telescopes being built on Earth today and share some proposals for building a large telescope on the surface of the Moon. A question-and-answer session will follow.

Take a break outside to peek through telescopes at planets in the night sky. Telescopes will be available for viewing on the lawn in front of Flandrau from 8-10PM.

At 8:30 catch “Big Astronomy”, a fulldome show that shares the story of the people and places who make big astronomy and big science happen. Visitors will get to visit the extreme sites where astronomy happens in the most extreme environments and with some of the most interesting people.

Style: Fulldome film followed by short talk about James Webb

Take a relaxing look at the night sky as we give you a guided tour of the stars, planets, constellations and current astronomical events above Tucson. This live star talk is constantly changing!

Recommended for general audiences.
Themes: Stars, planets, constellations, mythology.
Style: Live night sky presentation.
