Artemis II Live Launch Coverage + "Forward! To the Moon"
LAUNCH AND LIVESTREAM ARE SUBJECT TO CANCELLATION BY NASA.
About the Artemis Program:
Under Artemis, NASA will send astronauts on increasingly difficult missions to explore more of the Moon for scientific discovery, economic benefits, and to build on our foundation for the first crewed missions to Mars.
About the Artemis II Launch:
Artemis II is NASA’s first crewed mission under the Artemis program and will launch from the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It will send NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and CSA (Canadian Space Agency) astronaut Jeremy Hansen on an approximately 10-day journey around the Moon. Launching on NASA’s SLS (Space Launch System) rocket, the agency will test the Orion spacecraft’s life support systems for the first time with humans aboard, helping lay the groundwork for future crewed Artemis missions.
About the show, "Forward! To the Moon!":
Within a single lifetime, we’ve progressed from the first space rocket launch, to using space technologies in our everyday lives. Now, we are ready to start a new chapter in the history of human endeavor: to take our first steps towards a permanent, off-world presence. Go on a journey beyond the Earth towards a sustainable future in space. NASA’s 21st century Artemis program, named after the ancient Greek moon goddess and twin of Apollo, is the next step in our mission to explore the universe and land the first woman and person of color on the surface of the Moon. This film features interviews with astronauts and space scientists, footage of the new SLS rockets being built, and detailed simulations of the equipment astronauts will need to thrive on the Moon in the future.
