“World Oceans Day” at Flandrau!

June 5, 2018

Life on Earth began in the oceans, and our abundant liquid water makes our planet unique in the Solar System, and maybe even in our galaxy. This Friday, June 8, is “World Oceans Day” and Flandrau will celebrate our oceans with a special screening of the planetarium show Dynamic Earth at 1pm followed by a short presentation and Q & A featuring Shaun Pipes, President of the Fin Foundation. As a marine biologist, Shaun specializes in shark behavior and conservation.
This year, World Oceans Day is focused on preventing plastic pollution and encouraging solutions for a healthy ocean. Hands-on activities focused on marine science and learning simple ways to prevent plastic pollution will be offered from 1-4pm.
Explore the wonders of the world’s oceans, and learn about our closest marine environment, the Sea of Cortez, at Flandrau on Friday, June 8.
